In the heart of Kalenda, among the proud Kanyok people, one name continues to echo with reverence and admirationâDr. Ilung.
A dedicated physician, visionary leader, and beloved community servant, Dr. Ilung was more than a healer; he was a bridge between tradition and transformation. His work not only saved lives but also laid the foundation for sustainable healthcare and education in the region. Together with his wife and in partnership with the Diocese of Luiza, he helped establish critical institutions, including the Kalenda Bai Wayob Hospital and the Institut Technique MĂ©dical (ITM)âa legacy that continues to serve generations.
But it wasnât just his professional achievements that left a mark. Dr. Ilung lived with deep humility, unwavering commitment, and a spirit of unity that brought people together. His compassion, wisdom, and quiet strength inspired manyâincluding his daughter, Dr. Kony Mwinyoglee, who now follows in his footsteps, extending his vision across borders.
Today, as the hospital and ITM undergo a major renovation under Dr. Konyâs leadership, the memory of Dr. Ilung remains presentânot just in name, but in purpose. This work is not only a restoration of buildings, but a continuation of his dream: a stronger, healthier, and empowered Kanyok community.
Thank you, Dr. Ilung. Your legacy lives on.
